Chocolate Sales Rep Needed

By June 18, 2012Chocolate Business

The Secret Chocolatier has been growing on its own steam, but needs to grow strategically.  The four of us in the family are so focused on satisfying customer demand and innovating new scrumptiousness that finding new and wonderful places for our delights has taken a back seat.

Enough!

The best place to find talent is among fans and friends. Starting here we might just find someone who can help us introduce ourselves to strategic accounts and corporate gift programs.

The Makings of Chocolate Salesperson

Key ingredients:

  • Friendly, with strong interpersonal and digital communication skills.
  • A foodie; someone who delights in the palate.
  • Comfortable working with small business (if you thrive on hierarchy, walk on past!)
  • Can help us develop our sales channels (we know we don’t know it all!) through prior experience with the sales and the sales cycle.
  • Good at reporting / documentation. Record keeping is important!
  • Likes to grow, learn and teach.

Who Needs Chocolate?

Wholesale / Retail. These are our friends at the wine stores, co-op grocers, boutiques, etc. Handmade chocolate goes with so many other palate pleasers and luxury wares that we can’t begin to list the possibilities here.

Corporate. From hotels who need “turn down services” to the Fortune 500, these clients need gifts for loyalty programs, office parties / events, and frequently need personalized (branded) boxes of chocolate to thank their clients and partners. Those who’ve used us love us; we need more lovers.

Hiring Opportunity

We are a family business — four adults and a toddler. If you know anything about our scale of business you can appreciate the balancing acts we pull off every day. Everyone pulls their weight and this job opportunity is for straight commission (with residuals if accounts are managed.)

Are you already selling to wholesale/retail or corporate accounts? Maybe you could add our offerings to your current lineup.

In terms of hours, we’re looking for someone who can commit to at least 10 hours a week for starters. If you’ve got more hunger to work we’ll talk about it.  Of course we’ve got some perks to come along–chocolate, brand materials, etc.  We will work with you on how you can maximize your potential with us as we strongly believe in taking care of each other.

You do not need to be local for this but it sure would help.

It’s a Start, Let’s Begin

As with all things we’re learning as we go here (as I said above, we’re not some megalithic company with binders on how all this should go.) We’re working through it and need someone who is ready to figure it out with us.

While this post doesn’t contain all the details it should give a good idea. To submit a resume or inquiry please write me at [email protected].

Andy

Andy is a jack-of-all trades. Technologist, designer, super palate enabled crazy individual. He is like a madman helping The Secret Chocolatier reach new heights and when he's not doing that, or entertaining his new son, he might be falling out of nearly perfect airplanes.
