Charlotte Chocolate Shop Grand Opening Success

By July 5, 2011March 24th, 2014Chocolate Business, The Chocolate Experience

We’ve been making chocolate in Charlotte for over 3 years now.  We began with just an orange chocolate truffle and a simply pure chocolate truffle at what was then the Tailgate Market.  Look at how far we’ve come with a family that bound together and a work ethic that just doesn’t quit.  Now it’s time for us to really have some fun; all starting with our grand opening.

How was the Grand Opening?

She asked: “So how was the Grand Opening?”
We said: “A blur of chocolate, people, smiles, laughs, and more chocolate.”

Chocolate-Maker-Bill-Dietz-TrufflesWhat did we sample for our adoring public?

  • Four sheet cakes; pound cake, cream cheese cake (a white cake), and 2 chocolate cakes,
  • 30 lbs of chocolate mousse
  • 4 full chocolate almond pate logs with caramel sauce
  • over 300 chocolate truffles

Yea, it was that kind of party.

It took us at least four days of kitchen prep time, a day of cleaning, and a day of myself running all over Charlotte gathering an assortment of odds & ends to make the party just right.

The Romantic Grand Opening

The idea of a grand opening to me conjured thoughts of a paced journey of restocking products, talking with friends and new faces, getting pictures with our supporters, and taking a few orders.

What it really turned out to be was wave after wave of supporter or newcomer that devoured chocolate and made a line to purchase our products that zigzagged back and forth the storefront and sometimes out the door.

It was a sight, and sadly, as a photographer I wasn’t able to catch any of it.  400-500 people over 4 hours of time was an amazing, blurry, rock and roll moment for us and we are so thankful for those that came out to celebrate with us.
